Caroline Thom Antonia Segura-Walker Susan Smith
Best features
Caroline: I love the way you can fit all the essentials you need into one bag. Its a real room saver. This really is the perfect travel companion if you go on short breaks or holidays with your baby. I have my nappy bag hanging down the side of my wardrobe so all the things I need for my baby are close to hand, easy to find, and safely stored away from baby's reach. Antonia: I love the dispensing compartments, keeping everything I need for the twins within an easy reach. I took this into hospital with me and it fit perfectly over the wardrobe door, saving loads of space. Also, the tall narrow bag compartment reduces of the chance of bottles from tipping and leaking over the other items. Susan: The bag is handy for keeping all the baby bits together and saves time searching round the room or in the case if you're away. It is brilliant for going away and takes loads of disposable nappies as well as wipes, bags and everything else. The mat is a decent size which is frequently a problem with change bag mats.
Worst features
Caroline: I found that getting the nappy bags and baby wipes dispenser features, was very tricky to get working, although this didn't bother me too much, as I was just happy to have all the equiptment I need in one useful safe place. I think it depends on the shape and size of the wipes and nappy bags, too find a good fit for the dispensers to operate more efficientley. The wipes dispenser seemed to work a lot better with a less full pack of nappy wipes. Antonia: The only thing that could have made this bag better than it already is, is a strap and allows it to fit over pram handles. I only took it out once with it underneath the pram and my water bottle leaked onto a couple of nappies when it tipped onto its back, rendering them useless. Susan: The wipes pouch was fairly hard to stuff and how easy it is will depend largely on the brand of wipes you buy and the packaging they come in. When not in use the hook could present a danger if children started to explore the bag themselves - I would keep some tape over it to prevent accidents.
Practicality
Caroline: The bag is very practical, and it does fold up into a small/normal size bag even though it can be full of all of babys essentials (an it does fit a LOT of nappies in too!) I would say the if you travel a lot that this nappy bag is definatley worth having, and it would make life for you and baby a lot better organized. Antonia: Very practical for keeping at home where there is a definite place to hang it, but sometimes not so practical where you’re out and about and there isn’t an easy place to hang and then reach everything you may need during a feed/wind/change session. Susan: In my opinion this is not very practical to take out and about on a daily basis as a replacement for a change bag given the size and need to unravel it each time you change the baby. However it does have all the features and more of a traditional change bag.
Value for money
Caroline: The nappy bag retails at 24.99. I think this is very expensive for a bag (any bag!). Although I think the nappy bag is great, it comes with a bib and changing mat included, I still personally wouldn't buy it for 24.99. I think when it comes to products being made for mums, and to make mums life easier, then companies should think about every mums financial situation and make these products affordable for us all. Antonia: With this bag retailing at £24.99, it is marginally less expensive than many other designer bags on the market today. And with all of the compartments and uses, I would think that this is good value for home and/or holiday use. Susan: At £24.99 it is reasonably priced in relation to similar products. However I would see this as a great gift for new mums rather than something I would buy myself.
Visual appeal
Caroline: The design is polkadots in different colours against a white background. Its OK, but I shouldn't imagine many fathers would want to be seen with the bag as its got a girly look to it. I also would prefer a more simple and mature look to the nappy bag, and this design is a bit childish. After all, it is the mums that would carry it, not the actual babies themselves !! Antonia: Super funky print, but I don’t think it would go with many modern prams unless they were a solid black. When it first arrived, my eldest daughter loved playing with it as well. Susan: The bright spotty design is unisex and works for both boys and girls.
